Description:

Roman, Imperial period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A charming carved votive of two pigs, carved from a grey-green stone, one pig stacked atop the other. The pigs are portly, with their bellies extending to the ground, and small faces and legs relative to their bodies. Votive figures sought to portray animals as in their ideal state, and these fellows seem ready to make some delicious food for the person who gave them as a temple offering. Size: 2" W x 1.45" H (5.1 cm x 3.7 cm); 1.95" H (5 cm) on included custom stand.
