Description:

Roman Empire, ca. 2nd to 4th century CE. Long strand of chain links probably used as a form of currency. Each of the 12 links is a long loop of bronze wire crushed in the center to create an elongated figure eight, then held at the middle with bronze band. Some appear twisted; others are single bronze strands. Small bronze loop holds them all together. Quite rare and interesting! Size: 36" L x 1" W (91.4 cm x 2.5 cm)
