Description:

Ancient Near East, Mesopotamia, Late Uruk to Jemdet Nasr Period, ca. 3200 BCE. A rare stone amulet depicting a stylized female figure with a distinct avian face, perhaps a goddess. The figure presents nude with a stippled, wing-like cape around her arms and back while exposed navel and delineated legs create her anthropomorphic form. An intriguing triangular beak droops in front of her neck, and a suspension hole is laterally drilled through the shoudlers. Size: 0.6" W x 1.5" H (1.5 cm x 3.8 cm); 1.85" H (4.7 cm) on included custom stand.
