Pre-Columbian, Mayan Territories, El Salvador, ca. 550 to 900 CE. Unusual Copador style pottery plate or shallow bowl. Interior left reserved save wide red band along upper rim. Exterior decorated with 4 seated figures in transformation between human and beast. Each has an animals head and tail, all other elements human. Unlike most vessels from this region it is deliberately devoid of other glyphoids or symbolism standing solely on the merit of these 4 creatures. Size: 10.25" L x 2.5" W (26 cm x 6.4 cm)

Provenance: Ex-private D. Moreno collection, Florida acquired in the early 1980's.
