Description:

Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico, Guerrero region, Mezcala culture, ca. 600 to 100 BCE. A hand-carved greenstone figure of characteristically abstract form standing atop a pair of delineated, attenuated legs while holding both arms across the abdomen. Accentuating the string-cut grooves of this anthropomorphic effigy are streaks of red pigment that contrast nicely against the stone color, however the vermilion pair of eyes are the most striking feature of this ancient figure. Size: 2.125" W x 6.3" H (5.4 cm x 16 cm); 6.5" H (16.5 cm) on included custom stand.

  • Condition: Repaired across midsection with adhesive residue along break lines. Chips to top of head, with light abrasions, and fading to red pigment commensurate with age. Great preservation to figural form and nice remains of red pigment.
