Pre-Columbian, Nicoya Peninsula, ca 1000 to 1400 CE. Rare and wonderfully decorated pottery cylinder showing strong Mayan influence. Painted in vibrant red, black and tan, with battle scene showing two warriors in conquest over two fallen enemy. Each standing warrior holds weapon in left hand and wears fabulous headdress. Glyphoids adorn top and bottom. A fantastic example! Size: 11"H (28cm). Provenance: Ex-Private Laguna Niguel collection acquired from Florida gallery.
