Pre-Columbian, Western Mexico, Colima, ca. 200 BCE to 200 CE. Rare stone axe or mace head in the form of an animal, presumably a dog, but possibly a bear. Full-grooved stone with more typical axe end, front carved with two raised ears and string cut mouth on extended snout. A lovely and rare example! Size: 4.8" L x 2.7" W (12.2 cm x 6.9 cm)
