Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd century CE. A fabulous bottle of a squat, square-bodied form, mold-formed from semi-translucent, pale-green glass. The slightly concave base expands outwards to form four rounded corners which serve as feet, with a rounded shoulder tracing to a cylindrical neck, and a collared rim with a flared lip on top. A wide trail handle is applied from the shoulder to just below the rim. The mouth contains remains of the vessel's original plaster stopper, a feature that rarely survives the test of time. Thick, fiery layers of silvery and rainbow-hued iridescence finely complement the soft spring hues of the body. Size: 3.55" W x 5" H (9 cm x 12.7 cm).
