Description:

Ancient Seas, North America, Middle Miocene to end of Pliocene eras, ca. 28 to 1.5 million years ago. This is a gorgeous tooth from a prehistoric megalodon shark, fossilized and preserved with nice gray and black hues. The tooth has developed a slightly curved profile and has attractive gray-blue enamel that is naturally lustrous. The root is a contrasting matte black, with stable fissures from fossilization that retain a few pebbles and sediment from the time the tooth spent at the bottom of the ocean. Given how an average megalodon would contain around 276 teeth in its mouth at any given time, this tooth serves as a testament to just how enormous this ancient aquatic hunter would have been! Pictured stand not included, but available for an additional fee. Size: 4.53" L x 2.9" W (11.5 cm x 7.4 cm)
