North America, Southwest, Anasazi, ca. 1200 to 1350 CE. A rare and early shell bracelet beautifully accented by a center cluster of turquoise inlaid in mosaic fashion. The shell was originally from a coastal region, perhaps Baha, California, Sur in the gulf of California, but made it to the American Southwest. Turquoise was used by the natives of Mesa Verde in southwest Colorado. The turquoise central ornament featured in this piece is positively breathtaking!
