Native American, Southwestern United States, Mesa Verde region, Anasazi (Ancestral Puebloan), ca. 900 to 1300 CE. A hand-built pottery ladle of utilitarian form bearing an elaborate, black-painted linear motif within the deep scoop portion. Attached to the scoop is a hollow handle with a series of holes drilled into the topside; a modern string is fed through the curled outer tip. Size: 10.4" L x 5" W x 2.2" H (26.4 cm x 12.7 cm x 5.6 cm)
