Description:

Native American, Southwestern US, Anasazi / Ancient Puebloan culture, Kayenta, ca. 800 to 1050 CE. A large and well-shaped seed bowl, made using the coil method, with a slipped surface with a black-on-white repeated pattern on its exterior forming a stair motif. The rim folds inward, protecting much of the top of the bowl, leaving an opening just wide enough to slip a hand inside and touch the contents. Two pairs of holes, opposite each other on the rim, allowed the pot to be suspended. Kana'a Black-on-White is an early form of Ancestral Puebloan pottery, found mainly in northeastern Arizona between the Little Colorado River and the San Juan River. Size: 6.25" W x 4.7" H (15.9 cm x 11.9 cm)
