Native American, Southwestern United States, perhaps Mesa Verde, ca. 1100 to 1350 CE. A sizable pottery jar formed via the coil-and-scrape technique with a thick handles and black-painted spirals decorating the shoulder. The exterior of the tall rim is meticulously excised to create a fish scale pattern that is rather unusual for this type of utilitarian creation. Size: 7.2" L x 9.7" W x 7.25" H (18.3 cm x 24.6 cm x 18.4 cm)
