Description:

Native American, Western United States, Nevada, Paiute or Washoe culture, ca. 1920s CE. A beaded basket made from plant fibers over coiled cane, the exterior completely beaded from base to rim in geometric patterns. The basket is made by a centuries old coiling technique using native plants such as willow and bracken, and the seed beads are applied over the top using a netted stitch to secure the strands in place. Size: 5.5" Diameter x 3" H (14 cm x 7.6 cm)

  • Condition: Beading stitches are loose and starting to come away from rim and base. The net stitching is intact, but fraying and losses to threads holding netting in place. Woven basket is otherwise intact and very good.
