Description:

Hollow standing figure from the ancient Tumaco or La Tolita cultures of Ecuador/Colombia, ca. 300 BCE - 300 CE. Approximately 7" tall (item alone, un-mounted), about 7-1/2" mounted on the included display stand. The earthenware figurine tradition stretches far back into antiquity in what is today Ecuador/Colombia, and this example exhibits a continuation of form and style that hearkens back to even earlier Chorrera figures from the region. Provenance: Acquired from a reputable Texas, USA auction house. All items in this auction have been legally acquired, are legal to sell, and guaranteed to be as described or your money back. A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids. The starting price is the lowest price at which the lot can sell.

  • Condition: Repair/restoration to a fine breakline across the forehead, which is hard to detect. Otherwise, weathering, wear, chipping, abrasions and minor loss overall.
