Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, ca. 200 BCE - 200 CE. Hand-built terracotta seated male figure, sheep-faced or needle-nose type, with smiling face, pointy ears, large round earspools and high updo with magnificent head wrap. He holds an musical instrument, most likely of the percussive persuasion. Surface painted with red slip and white detailing. Measures 8 3/8" H. Provenance: Ex-Laguna Niguel, CA private collection, acquired prior to 1985.
