Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, probably Jalisco or Nayarit, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. This is an interesting pottery figure from the West Mexican shaft tomb tradition. It depicts an older man with simple facial features, an erect phallus, and visible spine and ribs. This figure would have been placed alongside the dead. Size: 13" H x 8" W x 7" L (33 cm x 20.3 cm 18 cm).

Provenance: Ex-private Hooper collection, CA, acquired via family descent.
