Description:

Pre-Columbian, Nayarit-Chinesco, west Mexico, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. This is a standing female figure with her hands placed on her hips/lower belly. And with enormously exaggerated hips and thighs, which may scholars interpret as a sign of her fertility. She is painted with a red color slip and has fine areas of mineral deposits over her body. Her head has a nose ring and possibly earrings in addition to painted lines down her face that may represent tattooing or scarification. Size: 3.5" W x 7" H (8.9 cm x 17.8 cm).
