Description:

Peru, Inca, ca. 1300 CE - 1500 CE. Impressive pottery face vessel with finely delineated facial features. Take note of those almond-shaped eyes, gracefully arched eyebrows that resolve into a prominent perky nose, laugh lines that mirror the contours made by the eyebrows, low oblong ears, and that toothy grin. White helmet/headdress with black geometric designs that complement what remains of tattoos or face paint on his forehead and cheeks - red ground for the rest of the piece. On the backside, a meticulously rendered stylized plaited coiffure. Overall elegant form with wonderful visage and fine aesthetic styling! 7.50"L x 8.00"W x 11.00"H (19.05 L x 20.32 W x 27.94 H cm) Provenance: Ex-Millea Bros. auction house, NJ.
