Magna Graecia, South Italic Colonies, Apulia, ca. 340 to 325 BCE. A wheel-thrown pottery askos presenting in the form of a 'duck' with a tiered foot, a bulbous body with a concave top, a petite strap handle, a projecting funnel-form mouth, and a perky tail on the opposite end. The vessel is enveloped in lustrous glaze of a jet-black hue, and faint areas of silvery iridescence imbue the vessel with a charming appearance. Size: 3.125" W x 3.9" H (7.9 cm x 9.9 cm).
