Description:

Pre-Columbian, southern Peru, Paracas, ca. 400 to 200 BCE. An exceptional handmade pottery bowl presenting a round yet stable base and impressively thin walls that gently span outwards to a circular rim. Boasting a lustrous sheen, the ancient vessel has been intricately incised with a decorative program along its exterior walls featuring a single register of four rectangles, each filled with an abstract geometric motif. Painted in hues of ochre, black, and cream on a burnt sienna ground, this stunning dish is a wonderful example from Paracas culture! Size: 5.875" in diameter x 2.75" H (14.9 cm x 7 cm)

This piece has been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) analysis and the jar has been found to be ancient and of the period stated. A full report will accompany purchase.
