Pre-Columbian, Southern Peru, Ica Valley, Paracas culture, ca. 500 to 300 BCE. A lovely pottery jar of spherical form with a sloped shoulder and narrow, tubular spout, all sitting upon a rounded base. The shoulder is incised with a pair of stylized faces, each featuring slit-form eyes, a trapezoidal nose, and a slender mouth. Size: 6.5" Diameter x 6.5" H (16.5 cm x 16.5 cm)

Provenance: private Bethesda, Maryland, USA collection, acquired by descent; ex-private USA collection, acquired in 1978
