Pre-Columbian, Peru, Vicus culture, ca. 200 BCE to 600 CE. A fabulous pottery bridge vessel comprised of 2 cylindrical chambers topped by a narrow spout and a nude female figure that doubles as a whistle. The stylized figure features a rotund body with slender limbs, square shoulders, delineated nipples and a huge head. Crowned by a band of 4 spikes, her expressive countenance exhibits squinting eyes, a curved nose, drilled nostrils, and a long, closed mouth, all flanked by a pair of prominence, pierced ears. A pair of 2 tubular tunnels connect the chambers to one another, while light remains of black and white geometric motifs adorns the surfaces. Size: 9.8" L x 4.3" W x 8.4" H (24.9 cm x 10.9 cm x 21.3 cm)

  • Condition: Professionally repaired and restored with repainting over visible break lines. Chipping to spout and proper left ear. Some light surface wear as shown, but otherwise, nice presentation with trace remains of black and white decoration. Still functions as a whistle.
