Description:

Ancient Near East / Western Asia, Parthia or possibly Eastern Roman, ca. 2nd to 3rd century CE. A beautiful pair of Parthian earrings formed from 76.7% to 79.7% gold (equivalent to 18K+) that are made wearable via modern gold ear wires. Each penannular body bears terminals that taper upwards before twisting together to close the loop, and beneath is a hollow foil grape cluster set with a single crimson-hued garnet. The front of each body bears a teardrop-form bezel, and one earring still retains its original garnet cabochon. A gorgeous pair of wearable artifacts! Size of each (both are relatively similar): 0.76" W x 1.12" H (1.9 cm x 2.8 cm); 1.52" H (3.9 cm) w/ ear wire; (largest garnet): 0.23" W x 0.3" H (0.6 cm x 0.8 cm); gold quality: 76.7% to 79.7% (equivalent to 18K+); total weight: 6.2 grams
