Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A pair of pottery items from the West Mexican shaft tomb tradition. One is a figure of a woman standing with her legs wide apart and her hands on her hips. She wears a skirt and has a large head and nose ring. Remains of a dark red pigment are all over her body. The other piece is a vessel with two bowls connected at their body and with a curved strap handle. They are painted with wavy red lines on a pale orange background. Size of figure: 4.9" W x 8" H (12.4 cm x 20.3 cm)
