Description:

North America, Canada, Alberta, Bearpaw formation, late Cretaceous, ca. 71 million years ago. This is a stunning pendant made of a fossilized ammonite and ammolite fragments set in a sterling silver bezel and strung on an opal bead necklace! The ammonite shell is preserved with great details such as the textual ridges and hints of warm iridescence. The large shimmering green triangular slice below the bail is ammolite, a rare organic gemstone that comes from the shell of ammonites, and the second ammolite sliver has a dark brown surface with flecks of green and orange iridescence. These dazzling gemstones are highly desired, and only found in the Bearpaw Formation in Canada. The open back bezel pendant is suspended on a strand of approximately 200 petite Ethiopian opal roundel beads with an adjustable lobster clasp. The pendant is removable from the necklace, so there are different ways to accessorize with the pendant or bead strand! Size (pendant): 1.8" L x 1.125" W (4.6 cm x 2.9 cm); (moonstone chain): 18" L (45.7 cm); sterling silver quality: 92.5% or higher; total weight: 24.3 grams
