Description:

Ancient Near East, Mesopotamia, Babylon, Old Babylonian period, ca. early 2nd millennium BCE. A tall and slender cylinder seal carved from rich black hematite with a suspension hole drilled lengthwise through the middle. Carved onto the surfaces is an iconographic program depicting two figures facing one another, perhaps representative of gods or kings, with one accompanied by an attendant who carries an ambiguous object in one hand. Custom roll-out included. Size: 1" L x 0.4" W (2.5 cm x 1 cm)
