Description:

Ancient Near East, Mesopotamia, Babylon, Old Babylonian Period, ca. 1900 to 1700 BCE. A hand-built clay administrative tablet of a rectangular form containing a few lines of inscribed cuneiform characters that show this as a receipt for a measurement of 110 sila of grain. On one side of the tablet is a fragment of its original clay 'envelope' that was used to seal the tablet and protect the inscribed cuneiform message. Size: 1" L x 1.1" W (2.5 cm x 2.8 cm)
