Description:

Northern Europe, British Isles, the Atlantic Bronze Age to Iron Age transition period, ca. 1300 to 700 BCE. A mold-cast bronze axe head with a flared vertical blade, a thick neck with a recessed triangular "duck-bill" design, twin lateral hafting flanges, and a thin stop bar. Lovely light- and dark-green patina envelop the majority of visible surface area. An axe head is denoted as "palstave" if it is hafted using a bifurcated (rather than single-pronged) wooden handle held in place by projecting flanges. Size: 6.25" L (15.9 cm).
