Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, produced in North Africa, ca. 3rd to 4th century CE. A wide-rimmed bowl made from African red slip ware. Around the lower body is a simple stamped design of repeated elongated ovoids - almost like leaves. This type of pottery is sometimes also known as African Terra Sigillata, referring to the method used to seal the red slip onto the pottery during the kilning process ("terra sigillata" meaning "sealed earth"). These objects were mold made and traded far and wide. Size: 7.5" W x 1.3" H (19 cm x 3.3 cm)
