Description:

Western Europe, Neoclassical Period, ca. 19th century CE. A wonderful pendant featuring a circular ceramic relief, set in a red gold pendant, and strung on a modern strand to be wearable. Boasting hues of sage, light aubergine, and pearly white, the gorgeous relief is adorned with a tondo on each side, both encircled by a lovely zigzag border resembling flower petals. One side of the pendant features the relief of a winged, cherubic Cupid, the Roman God of love (Greek Eros), riding a dolphin. Alternatively, the verso displays a left-facing Roman soldier in stride, wearing armor and a plumed helmet. The red gold pendant forms a slender border around the periphery around the ceramic relief and is fit with a wire suspension loop at the top. Size (pendant): 0.8" W x 0.9" H (2 cm x 2.3 cm); (strand): 22" L (55.9 cm); metal quality: 42% copper, 41.01% gold, 9% zinc, 6% silver
