Description:

Near East, Mesopotamia, Neo-Assyrian / Neo-Babylonian, ca. 1000 to 500 BCE. A group of 3 stamp seal beads carved from semi-translucent agate / chalcedony stones - one is a large fragment with the seal face intact, and the others are complete seals and drilled for suspension. The faces on these two are abstract in a linear and stippled form - although these are probably cultic / divine beings. The fragment is more naturalistic with a man standing in profile holding a spear. Size of ovoid seal: 1" L x 0.75" W (2.5 cm x 1.9 cm)

Provenance: East Coast collection, New York Gallery, New York City, New York, USA, acquired before 2010
