Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Salinar-Moche Transition Period, ca. 500 BCE to 200 CE. A hand-built pottery vessel featuring the stern portrait head. The vessel exhibits a round but stable base, a head-shaped body, and a wide, flared spout. The intriguing guise is accentuated with yellow-white pigment on the eyes, temples and chin, and the ovoid eyes stare outwards with a haunting presentation. Size: 2.875" W x 4.625" H (7.3 cm x 11.7 cm)

  • Condition: Professional repair and restoration to areas of spout, rim, and face, with resurfacing and overpainting along new material and break lines. Touch-up painting to areas of face and spout, with light abrasions, and fading to original pigment in scattered areas. Nice preservation to face.
