Description:

Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Nazca, ca. 250 BCE to 125 CE. A lovely pottery cup modeled in the form of a human trophy head with details painted in a rich color palette of crimson, topaz, and jet. Its expressive countenance is comprised of a relief nose, a pair of wide-open eyes, arching eyebrows, and a petite mouth displaying zigzag-patterned teeth. The cup has a round but stable base, smooth and highly-burnished walls, a deep interior cavity, and a thin rim. A fantastic example! Size: 3.875" H (9.8 cm).
