Description:

Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Nazca, ca. 200 to 400 CE. A tall and cylindrical pottery kero (or drinking vessel) with a round but stable base, slightly-tapered walls, a deep interior cavity, and a thin rim. The exterior boasts a decorative register of linear, chevron-form, and star-shaped designs, all painted in a colorful palette of coral, crimson, citrine, and pale-brown hues. A miniscule crimson-hued band adorns the interior of the rim, and the remaining interior areas are unpainted. Size: 7.625" H (19.4 cm).

  • Condition: Repaired from several pieces with small chips and light adhesive residue along break lines. Expected age-commensurate surface wear, extensive fading and abrasions to pigmentation, with nicks and chips to rim, base, and body, otherwise very good. Nice earthen deposits throughout.
