Description:

Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Nazca, ca. 250 BCE to 125 CE. An intriguing, hand-built, round-bottomed bowl in a rich burgundy red hue decorated with a dignified anthropomorphic birds set on delineated legs. The birds stand at attention with broad shoulders, raised beaks, and heads cocked to one side completing a strong noble presence repeated continuously across the vessel’s exterior. Each bird is illustrated in black, cream and orange hues and separated by thin, cream-colored borders. A truly wonderful example with a whimsical illustration. Size: 6" Diameter x 3.15" H (15.2 cm x 8 cm)
