Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, Chinesco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE; Colima, Protoclassic Period, ca. 100 BCE to 250 CE. A lovely pair of pottery vessels from West Mexico: a Colima jar and a Nayarit bowl. Sitting upon a round yet stable base, the jar presents a bulbous body adorned with abstract red, beige, and black decoration, a slender neck, and a thick flared rim. Alternatively, the bowl features a planar base and a hemispherical body embellished by incised and painted linear motifs. Size of largest (jar): 7.3" Diameter x 6.9" H (18.5 cm x 17.5 cm)

  • Condition: Both professionally repaired with some restoration and minor areas of overpainting. Light surface wear with nice signs of age. Otherwise, both are excellent with nice remaining pigments. Nicely preservation of incised decoration on bowl.
