**First Time At Auction**

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, Ixtlan del Rio, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-modeled, polychrome kneeling female figure painted in red, cream, and black hues with a characteristically elongated head presenting an expressive visage comprised of coffee bean shaped eyes, a prominent nose, and a slightly parted mouth. The figure is adorned with a nose ring, armbands, and shell-shaped ear ornaments. Her body is exaggeratedly wide with attenuated arms, small breasts with defined nipples, and a slightly protruding, perhaps pregnant, belly. Her upper body is covered with a black and red striated shirt or tattoos and the lower body with a red banded black-detailed garment or tattoos. Areas of manganese deposits are on the surface as well. A wonderful example from this shaft tomb culture. Size: 4.625" W x 6.5" H (11.7 cm x 16.5 cm)
