Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, Chinesco Type C, Protoclassic Period, ca. 100 BCE to 250 CE. A hand-built pottery female figure rendered in the distinctive Chinesco Type C variant and decorated with white, black, and red pigment. Her heart-shaped head exhibits dark streaks to the side of each eye, white earrings, and a rich red face while her upper body is enveloped in white pigment. Size: 3.125" W x 7" H (7.9 cm x 17.8 cm); 9.5" H (24.1 cm) on included custom stand.

  • Condition: Repair to proper left earring and possible restoration to inner arch of proper left foot. Minor abrasions and roughness to pigment in some areas, with light earthen deposits, a few stable fissures, and chipping along verso, otherwise in very good condition. Great manganese deposits and nice preservation to pigment throughout.
