Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, Chinesco type, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built and highly burnished pottery bowl of broad form with a slightly concave base, a wide basin, squat and gently corseted walls, and a thick rim. Presenting with red, white, and orange pigment, the exterior walls feature a repeating register of hourglass, chevron, circular, linear, and crosshatched motifs while the base bears 4 separated panels with either dense crosshatching or encircled X shapes. Size: 9" W x 3.3" H (22.9 cm x 8.4 cm)
