Ancient Seas, Middle Miocene to end of Pliocene eras, ca. 28 to 2.6 million years ago. An incredible fossilized tooth from a prehistoric megalodon shark, the largest fish and shark species to ever exist! The warm sienna brown root contrasts against the taupe beige enamel, and the tooth exhibits a classic V shape. The coloration of this megalodon tooth is natural- the vast range of hues we see in these teeth are due to chemicals and minerals present in the water and sediment as the tooth fossilizes. Note the circular cavities on the root from clam bore holes, testament to the time spent at the bottom of the ocean. Megalodons are legendary sharks that still inspire fear and awe today - their jaws could be 10 feet (3 meters) in diameter with enough power to crush a small car! Size: 5.44" L x 3.8" W (13.8 cm x 9.7 cm); 5" H (12.7 cm) on included custom stand.
