Native American, Southern United States, Arkansas, Mississippi County, Mississippian culture, ca 1000 to 1500 CE. A hand-knapped stone tool with a convex face and a flat face. The narrow tip is likely the handle or butt end, and the blade widens to a curved cutting edge. Knapping tools required patience and skill to create the desired shape without shattering the stone. This skillfully knapped tool may have been designed to mount on a wooden handle and likely served a variety of purposes. Size: 5.75" L x 1.625" W (14.6 cm x 4.1 cm)
