**First Time At Auction**

Pre-Columbian, Colombia or Ecuador, Narino region, Tuza culture, ca. 1250 to 1600 CE. A hand-built pottery bowl on a short pedestal foot, the interior painted with 8 abstract anthropomorphic figures encircling the basin. The cross motif that the figures stand around probably represents an axis mundi and/or the four cardinal directions, and the figures form a complete circle with their arms touching, likely symbolic of unity and power, although its full meaning is ambiguous. Size: 8.125" Diameter x 4.2" H (20.6 cm x 10.7 cm)
