Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Chorrera culture, ca. 9th to 4th century BCE. A fabulous pottery pedestal dish presenting a shallow basin and raised rim, all supported by a hollow leg and flared foot. Boasting glazed stripes of creamy beige and burnt sienna, the ancient vessel is further adorned with a pair of horizontal raised bands encircling its leg, as well as an elevated ring the encompasses the exterior of the basin. Size: 6" Diameter x 6.1" H (15.2 cm x 15.5 cm)

Provenance: private Lumberton, Texas, USA collection, acquired before 2010

  • Condition: Repaired from several pieces with break lines visible in some areas and restoration over others. Minor loss to rim and periphery of foot. Some nicks to rim. Expected nicks and abrasions, commensurate with age. Otherwise, excellent with nice remaining pigments and light earthen deposits throughout.
