Pre-Columbian, Colombia, Highland Narino region, Tuza cultural complex, Narino culture, ca. 1250 to 1500 CE. An attractive pair of pottery footed vessels, each boasting an exterior adorned with horizontal bands of black, negative resist decoration atop a red ground. Both sitting upon flared feet, the larger dish displays a conical bowl with a broad rim, while the more petite presents a hemispherical bowl with a gently flared rim. Size: 6.4" Diameter x 5" H (16.3 cm x 12.7 cm)

  • Condition: Minor chips to rim of more petite dish and foot of larger dish. Both have expected surface wear with a few abrasions. Otherwise, both are intact and excellent with liberal remains of pigments and nice manganese deposits.
