Ancient Greece, Mycenaean, Late Helladic III, ca. late 14th to 13th century BCE. A lovely wheel-thrown pottery stirrup jar of a classic Mycenaean form with a bulbous body, a slight concave foot, conjoined twin handles, and a tubular spout with a flared rim. The vessel is comprised of buff clay with buff slip and hand-painted concentric bands in a dark brown or black hue which is repeated around the spout, handles, and base. A finely-executed example of Mycenaean craftsmanship! Size: 5" W x 3.375" H (12.7 cm x 8.6 cm).
