Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Moche, ca. 200 BCE - 600 CE. This dramatic piece of wearable art is comprised of rare purple and yellow spondylus shell beads with a magnificently composed pendant comprised of two horizontal iridescent nacre ornaments joined by more purple spondylus beads and blue and green turquoise beads. The upper is carved in a serial diamond pattern with inlaid black coral circles. The lower is a rectangular and almost coral in hue. Dangling from this is a "flower petal" shaped bead with circular shell inlays. All beads are restrung with a new clasp. 20"L with pendant
