Pre-Columbian, Peru (North Coast), Moche Culture, Moche I period, ca. 100 to 550 CE. A fascinating whistle vessel in the form of a deceased ancestor seated on a throne, observing the world of the living through hollow eyes. He is adorned with large ear ornaments, a layered mantle, and a rounded headdress, and clutches something square between his hands. The hollow head conceals the whistle and creates an eerie appearance. Size: 7.5" L x 4.75" W x 8.85" H (19 cm x 12.1 cm x 22.5 cm)
