Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Moche, Phase III to IV, ca. 400 to 600 CE. A beautiful hand-built blackware vessel with a simple yet elegant form comprised of an ovoid body, a stirrup-shaped handle rising above and resolving to a tubular neck with a gently flaring rim. The surface is beautifully burnished. A lovely example from this ancient Peruvian culture known for its gifted potters. Size: 5.6" W x 5.75" H (14.2 cm x 14.6 cm)

Provenance: private Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA collection; ex-Minerva Gallery; ex-Benjamin Vega, California, USA, acquired in 2006 to 2007; ex-Gene and Virginia George, brought to the USA from 1961 to 1966
