Description:

**Originally Listed At $200**

Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Moche, ca. 300 to 500 CE. A lengthy textile tump line composed of tightly-woven camelid fibers (alpaca or llama wool) in hues of wheat, chocolate, emerald, and crimson. The design consists of two parallel panels, one with brown and beige and the other with red and green, in a repeating motif of zigzag, pyramidal, and checkered forms. Tump lines were used to transport heavy loads using one's forehead, thus leaving one's hands free for other tasks. A beautiful textile example from ancient Peru! Size: 94.5" L x 1.375" W (240 cm x 3.5 cm).
